Bathroom Mold Removal and Repair in an Eagle Rock Home

When inadequate ventilation persists in the bathroom of Eagle Rock homes, many ends up facing the situation our SERVPRO team restored in this residence. After prolonged moisture exposure, mold growth started and continued to a point where remediation was impossible without widespread demolition and material replacement. As a full-service contractor for mold remediation and the repairs often necessary during recovery, we responded fast to this emergency and helped the homeowner through the initial steps of protecting contents and belongings and reducing moisture.

Our remediators helped this home in multiple ways, including:

  • Mold removal
  • Mold inspection
  • Black mold damage repairs
  • Reconstruction

Mold Inspection Process

While our SERVPRO professionals reaching this Eagle Rock home already knew mold existed, creating a plan of restoration and remediation is critical. Our inspection of the property determined that a faulty exhaust fan allowed otherwise dormant mold spores to sit on moist surfaces and grow. In this case, as you can see in the Before Photo, the determined cost-effective and timely option was to eliminate hosting materials throughout the bathroom entirely, leaving only the framework, plumbing, and concrete subflooring.

Controlled Demolition as a Mold Removal Strategy

Mold colonization deteriorated hosting materials in the house and became such a blatant threat to the occupants of the home that controlled demolition was the only suitable response. Eliminating the shower stall, flooring, cabinetry, and wall systems allowed our team to use thermal imagery and surface moisture meters to track and damp pockets and resolve these to prevent further microbial development. With impacted structural elements removed and discarded, our professionals utilized our general contractor license #999460 to reconstruct the bathroom to the homeowner's expectations and wishes.

Making Mold Damage Disappear

Before reconstruction began on the bathroom, SERVPRO professionals installed preventative and proactive products to prevent mold recurrences moving forward. As you can see in the Before Photo, a vapor barrier membrane product was installed along the wall substrate material to prevent moisture penetration.

A properly functioning exhaust system was installed and tested before reconstruction of the ceiling system got underway. With only joists and framing exposed, installing the light and exhaust fixtures outside of the shower stall was more convenient and quick. Moisture detection equipment like thermal fogging determines that any damp caches are not unresolved.

Making Mold Structural Damage "Like it never even happened."

Before the new vanity and other fixtures could get installed, our SERVPRO professionals hung new drywall panels and installed a walk-in shower insert to the studs. Because this was a clean slate of sorts for the customer, we could modernize the bathroom with premium building materials tailored to the Eagle Rock homeowner's vision.

When our team completed the installation of the vanity, sink, toilet, and water-resistant vinyl flooring, you could not tell that it ever looked like the Before Photo. Most of all, we left the customer satisfied with the result and grateful for the prompt response of our professionals to address the house's overwhelming mold damage.
