Remediating Flood Damage in Glendale
Team SERVPRO Dries Out Your Flood Damage Carefully to Prevent Any Secondary Damages From the Event
Glendale is one of the preferred areas to live in around this part of California. The community is well-planned, friendly, and enjoys the best weather on the west coast; usually. This year saw the end of the drought, but the same rains brought problems for many homeowners.
Glendale flood damage is usually concentrated on the ground, specifically carpets and wood flooring. There is often some damage to the bottom level of drywall as well. If not dealt with quickly, a SERVPRO remediation team can spend more time and effort in demolition than in restoring your home to its pre-flood condition.
Since most of the water drains quickly after the rain stops, our technicians do not need a large pump but go directly to water extraction wands. These commercial devices look like a large water-vac, but we can determine the rate of suction to draw out water from wood floors without damaging the surface or pulling up the nape of the carpeting.
The real work needed to prevent permanent damage to either is careful drying. After we remove the water, one of our inspectors checks surfaces by feel for moisture and also uses moisture content meters to check for water trapped under carpets and floors. If we find excess, our action for carpets is to carefully lift entry and exit points in the room or hallway.
If there is no carpet pad underneath, SERVPRO technicians place one or more air movers at the entry point to force warm, dry air over and underneath the carpet. At the exit point, we place exhaust fans to draw out the cold, damp air trapped under the carpet. If there is a pad, we lift and roll the carpet out of the way to dispose of it. Replacing a pad is always cheaper than spending time and resources attempting to dry it.
We use the same air movers to dry wood floors and any affected drywall. Technicians can adjust the speed and temperature of the air movers to force slightly warm air across a surface or blow hotter air faster several inches above it. We can also direct the devices to force air up walls to dry them. In each affected room, we also set up an exhaust fan to draw out the damp air and improve air circulation. Both actions result in faster drying without causing any secondary damage.
