Wind Storm Damaged Roofs or a Bathtub Overflow in Your Glendale Home
SERVPRO Can Seal the Roof, Turn off the Faucet, and Dry Your Property
One of the most frustrating kinds of flood damage is overflows, simply because they are usually our fault. When you forgot to turn off the bathtub before you took a phone call, the drain was clogged when you thought it was working right, or your child started a bath without telling anyone and left the water running, you have major accidental water loss which can cause serious property damage. Then there is the unforeseen water damaged caused by a tree which busted a hole in your roof from a microburst storm.
A tub which has overflowed can create extreme damage to drywall, a subfloor, carpeting, walls or the ceiling under your tub. Depending upon how quickly you get remediation experts like SERVPRO to your Glendale home, the storm damage to many of these items can be saved. If you let the problem sit for several days, a strong odor and mold growth occur behind your drywall, creating a larger problem.
When water flows down through the ceiling from a storm, the trusses along with the portion of the ceiling and the subfloor need to be dried out. Our technicians at SERVPRO set up industrial strength fans, dehumidifiers and other equipment to dry the area out quickly.
The moisture content is checked each day with the use of moisture meters. We employ penetrating moisture meters which leave two pin-hole sized marks in the material we are checking, non-penetrating moisture meters which leave no marks and thermal hygrometers, which measure the moisture content in the air. Hydro sensors are also used to give a rough estimate of how much moisture is in porous materials like carpeting, and snake cameras to provide us with a visual confirmation of the moisture in confined areas such as under cabinets and in wall cavities.
When water flowed down in unoccupied areas, we dry the area using containment, air movers, and dehumidifiers. Containing the area minimizes how much air needs to be dried and speeding up the drying of the ceiling from water moving from an area with a high concentration of water to an area of lower concentration.
A weighted extractor takes out water from carpeting and padding in affected areas, plus we use injection drying to dry the walls from the inside out. Doing so minimizes the repair and rebuild needs and helps your home get dried out quickly with less disruption to you, at a lower cost.
